Kensington Market Community Land Trust
Incorporated in 2017, Kensington Market Community Land Trust (KMCLT) is a community-based non-profit organization located in Toronto’s famous Kensington Market neighbourhood. KMCLT is the outcome of years of community organizing work led by affordable housing advocates, local residents and artists with the goal of providing affordable housing and maintaining the historic built form, eclectic mixed-use character, along with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of the Kensington Market. In 2021, KMCLT acquired 52-54 Kensington Avenue, a mixed use building with 12 residential units and a few commercial storefronts. KMCLT’s future plans are to diversify its portfolio and actively developing affordable housing in Kensington Market.
