Jesolo Moonlight Half Marathon & 10K

The Jesolo Half Marathon, with a course of 21k meters combined with a 10K meters course, is becoming year after year an unmissable event for athletes and their families and an opportunity to visit Jesolo. Both races are run “in the moonlight”, starting at sunset and sliding and flat tracks that cross suggestive landscapes immersed in nature and very different from each other.

After the start in the central Piazza Milano, where the Moonlight Village is set up with all the pre and post-race services, you immerse yourself in the countryside on the outskirts of the city, along the Cavetta Canal until you reach the tourist port of Cortellazzo. You will run alongside the suggestive mouth of the Piave river and then head towards the Lido through the green avenues of the luxuriant pine forest. Finally, the lapping of the sea waves in the moonlight will accompany you in the last kilometers along the beach, before crossing the finish line in the heart of Jesolo nightlife, still in Piazza Milano.

Jesolo Moonlight Half Marathon & 10K is an event suitable for everyone, thanks also to the Family Run, a non-competitive race that takes place on a track of about 5 kilometers, the morning before the Half Marathon. The next day you can relax all together on the long equipped beach.

It is from the second half of the twentieth century that Lido di Jesolo has become a leading holiday resort in northern Italy, with its 15 kilometers of beach where there are establishments equipped for fun and relaxation. Between the port of Piave Vecchia and that of Cortellazzo, in fact, you will find all kinds of entertainment: from sailing courses to beach volleyball, from playgrounds for children to areas with Wi-Fi, perfect for a technological holiday and for remote working.

If you plan to visit Jesolo only for 1 day, do not miss the promenade along the seafront where you will notice the beaches, the piers that stretch out from the coast, creating an original scenario. Going east you will arrive in one of the most characteristic villages of the Venetian town, Cortellazzo, a small town where you will discover the close link that binds Jesolo to the surrounding lagoon. The town is located on an important river route that reaches the mouth of the Piave river and is the best place to try the typical local cuisine: taverns and restaurants prepare tasty recipes with the catch of the day.

In the hinterland lies the small hamlet of Jesolo Paese, the historic center of the town. Crossed by the river Sile, it is a village that experienced its maximum development in the 1930s. Among the things to see in Jesolo certainly cannot miss the Church of San Giovanni Battista which, rebuilt in 1910, has its roots in 1102 when, in the space now occupied by the religious building, a monastery was erected. Undoubtedly, the seventeenth-century bell tower stands out which, 27 meters high, is one of the symbols of the village. Also modernized during the twentieth century, it is equipped with a carillon that resounds throughout the town.

Those who stop to visit Jesolo for a short time should include the archaeological site of the Antiche Mura in their tour. In this area of 36,000 square meters, the remains of the ancient Equilius, a lagoon settlement from the Roman era, were found. Your attention will be captured by the remaining intact portions of the Cathedral of Santa Maria, a church that in size, in the Veneto area, was second only to the Basilica of San Marco in Venice. Built on the layout of a previous early Christian temple, it has sections of the floor with mosaics with floral motifs probably dating back to the sixth century.
