Our new hashtag(s) are not just there to create a hype, they mean something, especially to us.
What drives us co-founders and members is the will to make Fairbnb.coop a good opportunity for people from all around the world to participate from the benefits of the ever growing tourism industry and to minimize the collateral damages that sadly contribute to water down and corrupt local culture and to drive citizens away from their hometowns.
But also we are driven by the will to create a special economic model where people can use their talents and skills to pursue happiness and self fulfillment while contributing to the common good.
This is not an entirely new concept, 生き甲斐, pronounced ikiɡai, is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for being” The word “ikigai” is usually used to indicate the source of value in one’s life or the things that make one’s life worthwhile. [ ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikigai ]
Here at Fairbnb.coop we believe that our idea can become a powerful tool in the hands of thousands of talented and inspired individuals around the world. A comfortable place where everyone can find his/her niche and purpose, an ikigai.
This dynamic is already happening in some form, so many people have voluntarily and liberally reached out to offer their help, ideas, skills and for that we are grateful.
But we are far more ambitious than that and we want to call out for all those out there that are seeking for a cause worth fighting in which to apply the best part of themselves.
Although level headed and realistic about our capacity and scale in the present we believe that in the long term this idea has the potential to become huge even mainstream.
But to achieve that we need you.
We need you to spread the message.
We need you to give us feedback.
We need you to help with the crowdfunding.
We need you to become an activator in your place.
We often speak about Local Nodes, communities even Key Partners, we want to make very clear that these are very concrete opportunities and that we are open to discuss them with anyone who is interested.
In
this pre-launch period we are already connecting worldwide with a lot
of individual, organizations and potential partners and we are doing our
best to find a way to collaborate with everyone depending on their
skill, motivations, interest, willing to commit and availability of time
and resources.
We need a partner in every city, town and hamlet.
The level of involvement is entirely up to You.
You can just start involving few people, hosts and projects and create a Local Node with our support or maybe, in case you represent or know a suitable
organization in your area, we can evaluate the possibility to scale up
the commitment to a Key Partnership.
Even the associations behind a local community project can become Key Partner if they have a suitable organization and can provide transparency and accountability.
In exchange of this commitment and the willingness to foster local circular economy we leave to the local Key Partner a fair share of the co-op revenues generated on their territory with the clear mandate that this
revenues will be used to create a local workforce, develop activities
in their area and therefore will be reinvested locally.
