DISCOVER VENICE CARNIVAL 2020 WITH FAIRBNB.COOP
it’s said that the Carnival of Venice was started from a military victory of the Venice Republic in the distant year 1162AD. In honour of this victory, the people started to dance and gather in San Marco Square. It then became an official period of celebrations during the Renaissance and peaked its splendour in the seventeenth century when the baroque carnival was also a way to boost the prestigious image of Venice in the world.
After a long absence starting with the decline of the Serenissima and prolonged until not so long ago, the Carnival tradition re-emerged spontaneously in 1979 and since then has become one of the most famous Carnivals in the world.
For fun-loving travellers and elaborate costumes enthusiasts is an occasion to see Venice under a very different more vibrant perspective, participate to a wide range of celebrations and parties, from spontaneous gatherings in the Venetian Campi to the most exclusive parties in the Palazzi on the Grand Canal.
