Vacation rentals in Paris: an accelerator for Fairbnb.coop
Fairbnb.coop has been selected as one of the projects that will participate in the Parisian acceleration program, the Welcome City Lab, especially focused on startups in the tourism sector. On the new booking platform we already have some Fair vacation rentals in Paris and have chosen the first social project that will be funded by travelers.
Welcome City Lab will speed up sustainable tourism in France
These startups were announced on YouTube in the form of an urban journey that has Fairbnb.coop as its last stop:
Fairbnb.coop and the other startups were selected by the partners who support the Welcome City Lab:
City of Paris, Bpifrance, Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, ADP Group, Air France, Atout France, Caisse des Dépôts Group, Hauts-de-Seine Department, Centaurus Hospitality Management
In eight years, the Welcome City Lab has established itself as the international benchmark for tourism innovation and has already enabled more than 150 startups to launch and develop, with a success rate of 85%. These startups have generated more than 1,400 jobs and raised more than € 200 million.
Volumes Coworking, Fairbnb.coop partner in Paris, has already started creating job opportunities!
To give Hosts and travelers a chance to participate in a more equitable and sustainable tourism in Paris, a Digital Meetup was organized on July 13, 2021.
Our sustainability policy for vacation rentals in Paris
The Volumes agency, together with the Oiseaux de Passage cooperative, will take advantage of this program to speed up the development of Fairbnb.coop in France. This selection also demonstrates the sensitivity of the City of Paris to move forward sustainable tourism, with actions very much in line with our approaches.
Paris is globally known for its historical sites, its museums, and its vibrant cultural life. Nevertheless, tourism when massive and deregulated contributes to the destruction of local ecosystems as well as harms the cultural heritage and livelihoods of local communities.
We want to change the way travelers look at Paris in terms of touristic destination: we will let you discover innovative places and different ways of living and enjoying the city.
Let’s make Paris the world capital of inclusive and regenerative tourism!
Our Local Node aims to promote a sustainable tourism in Paris and it will guarantee transparency and accountability while guaranteeing privacy and security of its members. The Hosts of our Fair vacation rentals in Paris must be registered by local authorities, and we will only allow max 120 days rentals per year period.
Our vision in Paris
The local project financed through Fair vacation rentals in Paris
Travelers who book vacation rentals in Paris via Fairbnb.coop have the opportunity to fund “Thot – Transmettre un Horizon à Tous”, a French graduate school for asylum seekers and refugees who speak very few words or not at all French.
Thot provides access to refugees and asylum seekers, who have had little or no schooling in their country, to effective and inclusive French language training, leading to DILF and DELF diplomas, valid for life and everywhere in the world. The school is unique, the learning has a concrete aim and the support is global.
The 16-week graduate training includes:
- French courses: 10h/week or 160 hours;
- Individual social, legal and psychotherapeutic support permanences;
- Vocational guidance: 2 hours of workshops twice a month, led by trained professionals and volunteers;
- Creative workshops: 2h/week of discovery of the arts;
- Cultural outings: according to the calendar, museum visits, games, picnics.
