Since 1923, every first Saturday in July the world cooperative movement celebrates the International Day of Cooperatives. In line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the United Nations, this #CoopsDay, July 4th, 2020, we will focus on the contribution of cooperatives to combating climate change.
The cooperatives are called upon to be protagonists in meeting these challenges, which are becoming urgent in the wake of this pandemic. The UN has embraced this annual celebration as a powerful advocacy tool to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 on Climate Action.
Dr. Trebor Scholz to join Fairbnb.coop as Lead of the Advisory Board
Fairbnb.coop celebrates the International Day of Cooperatives by welcoming Dr Trebor Scholz to our team. Scholz has inspired our group, has been supporting our project since its inception, and has admitted Fairbnb.coop as a member of the Circle of Cooperators of the Platform Cooperativism Consortium.
That is the reason that Trebor Scholz is joining our cooperative as a bonafide worker member and Lead of the Advisory Board. The Board brings together experts from all around the world to support our Fair Bnb Network to transition into a full-fledged multi-stakeholder cooperative.
“This moment calls for acts of solidarity,” Scholz emphasizes. “I’m excited to join Fairbnb.coop’s Advisory Board and worker co-op. Fairbnb.coop will help to build the next economy!“
Needless to say that for us at Fairbnb.coop this is a momentous opportunity and a confirmation of our commitment to pursue the values expressed in our original manifesto launched in 2016.
While Fairbnb.coop is gearing up to open its Beta version to a wider public, potentially attracting even more interest and more users, we are also carefully planning how to become a real multi-stakeholder cooperative and how to develop truly representative and democratic governance.
Our hope is that shortly our users, including Hosts, Guests, local projects and municipalities, could become the owners of the platform transforming Fairbnb.coop into a genuine engine of equality and development worldwide.
